Steam Deck now holds the title of “Best Gaming Hardware” as Valve was awarded the Golden Joystick at this year’s celebration event. As a result, gaming laptop PC fans are celebrating on social media by sharing their thoughts on why the laptop is deserving of this prestigious award.
Valve’s portable powerhouse may be the best gaming PC for mobile gamers, but it faced some portable competition last night at the Golden Joystick Awards. It wasn’t the only portable gaming device to receive a nomination, as the Analogue Pocket and Playdate were both shortlisted.

At the event, Valve CEO Gabe Newall accepted the award “on behalf of the gaming community”, stating that Steam Deck would not be possible without their support.

It usually takes years for a platform to make an impact on the gaming scene, however Valve has already laid a good foundation for Steam Deck 2, especially when it comes to compatible games. Sure, Valve’s first device is far from perfect, and using the best Steam Deck isn’t quite as easy as the Nintendo Switch, but it offers incredible portable performance at a great price.
