The Olympic Committee announced the extension for 2023 of the e-sportsman’s participation in a sporting event. Moreover, the same IOC President Thomas Bach explained the importance of the new competitive format of the esports-related event, confirming that the final will be hosted in the presence of the public in Singapore.

The first Olympic Esports Week marks an important milestone in our quest to support the growth of virtual sports within the Olympic Movement. We believe that the exciting new format of our virtual sports competition, with live finals held for the first time, is an opportunity to further collaborate with esports players and create new opportunities for both gamers and fans. This is a great opportunity to partner with Singapore, which has a history of supporting innovation in the Olympic Movement by hosting the first Youth Olympic Games in 2010, so we look forward to working closely together.“.
