Bethesda has uploaded a new video to celebrate 25 years of the Fallout fanchic, and it reveals some interesting backstory. Fallout: New Vegas: Considered one of the best episodes of the series, the episode was actually born like this: expansion from fallout 3 and not as a standalone game.
This was to reveal the detail. Todd Howard, Bethesda’s executive producer and one of the company’s leading figures. According to the executive, after the success of Fallout 3, there was too much internal pressure to capitalize on the moment, so the idea of making a major expansion was approved.
The problem was that at that time Bethesda was starting work on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and therefore had to rely on an external team. he was chosen Obsidian Entertainment because Bethesda knew and loved their team members.
But while working on the game, Obsidian felt it should be a standalone project. From there, the expansion was made into Fallout: New Vegas by agreement with Bethesda, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Towards the end of the video, we can see Bethesda’s general manager, Ashley Cheng, appreciating how Obsidian took another company’s engine and came up with something great.
