Today, Brazil generates 2.1 million tons of e-waste per year, while Rio de Janeiro generates 168 thousand tons of e-waste. With proper disposal, components can be recycled and thus contribute to carbon neutralization for the event, as for every kg of e-waste that is disposed of in a sustainable manner, 1.4 kg of carbon equivalent is emitted from the atmosphere. According to a study by Science Direct, 6.2 MWh of energy saved and 739 liters of water saved (equivalent to 5 baths in 15 minutes).
