If you ever wanted to be a giant hero in League of Legends’ Teamfight Tactics auto battle, then TFT Monsters Attack update! This is for you. You’ll have to defend Runeterra against a wide variety of kaiju-inspired enemies, and there’s plenty to dive into.
Why the heck are you suddenly fighting Kaiju in the first place? Well, we’re not sure yet. Riot simply asks players to prepare to “fight to protect the world” or the consequences will be catastrophic. What we do know for sure is that huge squads of heroes and anti-heroes will be added to the playing field, and they will be more powerful than anything we’ve seen before.
Combine that with a new threat trait and it’s a whole new take on LoL’s auto-battler game. “Threats don’t benefit from countering other threats and don’t have other features,” says Riot. “They are more powerful than other units, which makes up for their simplistic feel. Players can always line up any number of them, adding to their versatility.
This time, the buffs have also become permanent, but their nature changes as monsters attack! Progress. In each session, players will be able to choose from a variety of hero expansions that will “supercharge” one hero, rather than the entire team.
PvE mobs will also be looking to take part of your superhero squad, but defeating them will net you an anvil that grants you a free item or component. fascinating, right?
As for who is in charge of the kaiju, it remains a mystery. While Aurelion Sol is the most Godilza-like creature on the Rift right now, I suspect someone else might be behind these nefarious machinations. The cutscene points to Star Guardian Fiddlesticks and Bel’Veth, but who knows, there are a lot of bad guys in there!
Monster Attack! will be in PBE starting November 15, then fully released in early December, likely after some downtime so Riot can implement feedback. after all that very a different look for TFT and will probably need some tweaking.
