Destiny 2’s upcoming crafting updates mean that Bungie will soon allow players to craft weapons from the Deep Stone Crypt raid, according to the game’s developer’s latest This Week At Bungie (TWAB) series. The popular FPS game will take place at the beginning of the next season. starting December 6.

“Each encounter has a chance to drop a version of the Deepsight raid weapon, and players can purchase one per week from the last chest after defeating Tanika. When Deep Stone Crypt is the popular raid of the week, the number of encounters is unlimited! This means you can run a full raid and find it multiple times each time you search for Deepsight drops,” reads a Bungie blog post attributed to community manager dmg04.

The post reveals that it will also feature new perk groups for weapons that they didn’t have before, citing the following examples:

  • Legacy (Shotgun): Rebuild + Focused Rage
  • Offspring (Hand Cannon): Voltshot + Rampage
  • Guardian (Scan Rifle): Quick Strike + Incandescent

The blog post indicates that a new origin trait called “Bray Heritage” will also be added to the game, likely a reference to the work of scientist Clovis Bray, a prominent antagonist in the Beyond Light expansion, and the Braytech family of weapons.

The blog post also mentions bigger changes to the game’s overall crafting system: Starting with the Lightfall expansion, weapons that can’t be crafted won’t drop from Deepsight. Bungie will also introduce other ways to earn Deepsight, give players the option to have some autonomy over which weapons to use to craft, and give Lightfall Raid Adept weapons access to extended perks. However, this does not mean that Adept weapons will be available for full production in any form.

dmg04 explained via tweet that current Deep Stone Crypt red-rimmed weapons will not carry over to the next season, so players will need to unlock new Deep Stone Crypt red-rimmed weapons after the start of the next season.

Destiny 2’s Lightfall expansion will release on February 28, 2023, so Guardians should operate under the current system for the next season and a half.
