The Overwatch 2 Secretlab Gaming Chair Fits The Genji Network Perfectly

It’s no secret that Secretlab Gaming Chairs Considered some of the best in the industry, the Overwatch 2 Genji seats combine the brand’s core quality with the soul of one of the most tortured and beloved first-person shooter characters, Genji: Shimada.

As an Overwatch player lucky enough to sport a Sombra-themed tattoo, the OW2-style Secret Lab is literally the best gaming chair for a high-end DPS like me. So imagine when I heard that this chair actually exists and was designed in the style of one of my all-time favorite characters. It’s safe to say I’ve been a fan for a long, long time.

Genji is one of the most famous (and infamous at the same time) faces at Blizzard. I was wondering how Secretlab could capture the essence of Overwatch’s iconic cyber ninja in chair form. Looking back on the company’s collaboration with League of Legends, I knew it was definitely a possibility (the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 Series Viego chair still haunts all my dreams), but Genji seemed like a tough choice. Sombra would allow for deep purples and Matrix-inspired looks, while Mercy’s wings, for example, would make a great faux-fur tattoo on her back.

However, when the (very large) box arrived at my door, all worries took a backseat. I knew this chair would be Genji, and it is exactly what it is.

The dragon becomes me

The most striking thing about the Secretlab X Overwatch 2 collaboration is the back. A stunning neon green Japanese dragon wriggles and swirls against the metallic grey, almost making you want to run your fingers across the delicate embroidery. As you sit in your chair, you feel empowered knowing that this stunning oriental creature is watching you as you feed your heart, I mean the best frag.

Soft, ribbed fabric frames the front and back of the chair, giving it the feel of wearing armor. It’s smooth to the touch, yet feels like it’s meant to be cold and metallic, and it’s also held together with even more neon green thread, the color of which has become synonymous with the Japanese cyber warrior.

When you sit down, the legs are framed by metallic silver faux fur. Although this time it’s not ribbed, it gives you the weird feeling that you’re almost streamlined, like it’s snug against your skin, just like the character’s armor. Just as Genji and the dragon are one, it seems that you are part of the chair. It flexes and follows the curves of your body, especially thanks to the memory foam cushion and customizable lumbar support technology.

When you sit down, there is a sense of unbridled wonder. No matter how many times I sit down, I can feel that slight thrill of excitement. The dragon becomes me quoting the person himself, and we haven’t talked about the front panel yet.

The side of the Secretlab Overwatch 2 Genji Gaming Chair is finished in textured faux leather.

flow like water

While the back of the chair represents Genji’s legacy, the front represents his new cybernetic talents. Finished in matte and gloss gray wet-look faux leather, the feeling of being cloaked in armor carries over to the saddle, your shoulders resting just below the round decals inspired by their own shoulder pads.

The center face mirrors the character’s helmet from Overwatch 2, with a lime green “V” running through a splash of color amidst soft off-white seas. Silver mechanical-look stitching runs down the spine, while a subtle Overwatch 2 logo is embroidered above the visor.

What makes it so special is the subtlety. Anyone can look at this design and say “Oh, that’s cool,” but Overwatch fans will immediately recognize it as Genji. Even if you have never played this game, this chair will not leave you indifferent, and that’s great.

Secretlab has done an amazing job of tastefully capturing the spirit of the dragon in this collaboration and it’s a dream come true for a longtime fan like me. Loading up Overwatch 2 (especially Hanamura) feels great, and there’s a real sense that you’re immersed in the colorful world of Blizzard’s first-person shooters.

If you want to pick up the Secretlab X Overwatch 2 collaboration for yourself, you can go to the Secretlab site. You can choose from designs inspired by Tracer and Genji, as well as the existing Overwatch logo and D.Va chairs. There’s also a totally adorable Pachimari pillow to complete your Overwatch-style setup, and to be honest, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted.
