If you love Elden Ring mods that add new spells, this Elden Ring mod pack should probably be next on your list to bring FromSoftware’s amazing open world game to life. Mods are available to do just about anything you can dream of, from large Elden Ring texture overhaul projects to improve visuals, to Elden Ring combat mods that include complicated Bloodborne-style weapons. But one of the most fun ways to add variety to your next playthrough of one of the best PC RPGs is to customize your spell library.
Created by the creator of Castle Whale, The Castle’s Class Fantasy Spell Mod for Elden Ring is a collection of all of his custom spell mods designed to rework and rebalance the magic in the game to better suit their respective fantasy class. Castle Whale says the project “started as a quality of life change.” [but] it quickly got out of control and became common spells.” They say their goal was to strike a balance that would make the player stronger, and acknowledge that new additions can be quite strong in some cases, but don’t think they should be more OP than “your average bleed build.” ” in the base game.
There are tweaks and rebalancing to a number of spells that Castle Whale says should eventually include all major spell classes. They have adjusted some of the spell slot requirements to give players a bit more flexibility in their team choices. There are also super powerful and expensive “ultimate spells” for each of the main stats. Also, Castle Whale says that all weapons and dyes can now be upgraded, which should allow for some pretty powerful combos.
As a bit of a warning, note that many of the new spells are affected by capture, and in some cases spells can target your player character if you try to cast them without capturing an enemy first. However, they explain that other spells can have more beneficial free aim effects, especially those cast in an arc to increase range. Spells can also be charged for stronger or additional effects.
Ultimates are almost certainly the most exciting component. Smart builds gain the ability to use Gravity Well, a cloud of stars that explodes after a short time. When charged, it creates a black hole that deals heavy posture damage over 3 seconds before exploding in a massive explosion. Inta/Faith builds can use Elden Stars, a glowing swarm of energy balls that harass the target before ending in a giant beam of light. Additional spells for Pure Faith builds and Arcane users (we particularly like Bloodboon) are included, with the potential for even more of these spells in the future.
