Halo Infinite “Firefight” with AI campaign in Forge “First Place”

There is no Halo Infinite Firefight game mode, but a question at 343 Industries about Halo Infinite Forge suggests there may be tools in the future for fans to create their own Firefight through Campaign AI. There are no promises or official dates for any of this, but it once again proves that 343 knows what the community wants and is constantly researching what and when to add FPS to the game.

Some of the 343 Industries developers gathered for the community segment during the Halo World Cup in Seattle to discuss community feedback, future plans for multiplayer, and more.

Some of the key feedback comes from Forge Lead Designer Michael Shore and Multiplayer Creative Director Tom French, who answers a fan question during the event that he could build something like Firefight in the Forge at some point. This brought the team onstage to address the “campaign AI thing.” [in Forge]”.

“That’s the main thing, obviously I can’t say much about it. We’ve all heard it, we’ve heard it loud and clear,” says Shor.

“Like in Halo 5, when people figured out how to launch bots there. [Forge] and they say ‘Idiots, here we have the AI’, and I say ‘It’s a turret because it doesn’t move,’ adds French. He then says that the bots couldn’t move because of NavMesh (at the time), then explains how 343 Industries builds things over time, before telling the person who asked the question that it’s hypothetical that Firefight can get to Forge with the flow . line.

We’ve put together a full interview with the Halo Infinite Forge community below if you want to know more about the team.

French’s mention of Halo 5 refers to how players found a way to write basic aggressive AI through that game’s Forge mode, which (on paper) showed how players could create their own Firefight-esque mode. 343 seems to be releasing something similar here, saying that over time, when all the relevant tools are introduced, players will be able to do something like Firefight.

Note that this is an assumption and not a promise, suggesting that 343 is not currently considering adding weapons games per se, but is instead focusing on other areas of development.

If you want more Halo Infinite news, there was recent news about Halo Infinite’s matching XP system coming with the Winter Update, which 343 says has been changed to level up faster than the challenge-based system. Affinity’s new Halo Infinite multiplayer mode is also expected to be “something big and new” for the series.
