oculus quest 2 it continues to add new features after its transformation in Meta Quest 2, with a 120Hz compatible VR headset, Air Link for wireless PC VR streaming, and even a Lord of the Rings-style home environment. Now, Meta has introduced Try Before You Buy, a new system-level feature that makes it easier for developers to deliver demos.

Available for oculus quest 2 and the original Quest, the latest update shows that Meta is doing its best to remain the best VR headset. Bringing back the spirit of demo discs, the program allows players to try out a wide range of games with minimal effort on the part of developers, who no longer need to create separate applications.

All a developer needs to do is sign up for Try Before You Buy (TBYB) and the demo will appear on the app’s existing store page. At the discretion of the developer, these demos can be between 15 and 30 minutes long. If you remove your VR goggles during this demo, this timer will stop.

Unfortunately, TBYB is not available for App Lab games, Meta’s most experimental VR platform. For apps that support cross-purchase with older Meta PC VR headsets (Oculus Rift and Oculus Rift S), these trials are not available on PC. As such, demos of compatible games like Bonelab or Pistol Whip are limited to the Quest and Quest 2, as well as upcoming VR headsets like the Meta Quest Pro and Oculus Quest 3.

At the end of the trial period, access will be removed until you purchase the corresponding app. However, TBYB saves both your previous progress and achievements, meaning you can pick up where you left off. Developers also get analytics detailing how many players have tried their app, and we’d be very interested to see how that affects sales.
