New Tales From the Borderlands had an average rating of 71 on Metacritic at the time of writing. 75 on Opencritic. In any case, keep in mind that many reviews are missing, so current averages are only tentative.
In general, numerous comic moments and references to pop culture were appreciated, as well as dubbing. They can’t quite convince the plot and characters that don’t match those of Tales from the Borderlands.

“New Tales from the Borderlands didn’t impress us deeply, and we believe such an anticipated follower deserves more. The result is a fun game that knows how to get more laughs, but not thrilling when it gets more serious and dramatic. I’m also sorry that Gearbox only made half an attempt to expand the fun side with very simple mini-games. It’s not a bad game as mentioned, but it’s not the masterpiece some were hoping for either.”
