Permanent Battlefield Portal Servers coming with Update 2.2

Currently, when you host a Battlefield Portal server, it will only appear in browsers on the main server as long as there are players connected to the server. After that, poof, here we go. This changes with the release of Battlefield 2042 update 2.2, as EA/DICE announced the addition of permanent Battlefield Portal servers to multiplayer for players who own Battle Pass Premium.

A persistent server means that the Battlefield Portal server remains visible in the Battlefield Portal server browser even if there are no active players on it. As EA/DICE explains, this means that gaming communities will be able to spend time together on their favorite servers, whether or not the server owner is online.

When Battlefield 2042 update 2.2 is released, Battle Pass Premium owners will be able to select the persistent server option each time they host a server on Portal. If this box is checked, this server will remain visible in the server browser for seven days after the last player disconnects from it. In other words, to keep your server running, you won’t need to log in more than once a week.

Persistent servers include all of the same features as regular servers, according to EA: options to enable cross-play, subscription, custom server messages, password protection, and host management features.

EA hasn’t officially announced a release date for the game’s 2.2 update, but we’re expecting it to be sometime in October. In the meantime, check out the best Battlefield 2042 SWS-10.
