AMD’s RDNA 3 release date is just around the corner, but we have yet to see how Team Red’s latest graphics cards stack up against the recently released Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090. Despite the company’s best efforts to keep information about the new Radeon RX 7000 series under wraps, some insider sources are now sharing my thoughts on the upcoming Pixel Boosters.
Sources close to Moore’s Law have died on how they think AMD RDNA 3 will compete with Nvidia’s RTX 4000 GPUs, specifically the RTX 4090. I learned today from AMD engineers that they still expect RDNA 3 to have competitive rasterization performance with 4090″.
However, this was done with the caveat that “no one expects superior RDNA.” [3] a card that will outperform the RTX 4090 in ray tracing.” This puts the top Radeon RX 7000 series graphics card in a potentially profitable position if it can trade blows with the flagship Lovelace and significantly reduce its price.

Whether features like Nvidia DLSS 3.0 will be too much for Team Red to overcome remains to be seen, but this could be a crucial feature that tips the scales in Team Green’s favor this generation.
