The Meta Quest Pro (formerly known as Project Cambria) is expected to be the next best VR headset fueled by the Metaverse’s ambitions, but it won’t replace the Oculus Quest 2. Instead, it’s aimed at mixed reality professionals and the CEOMark. Zuckerberg thinks it can replace his work PC or laptop.

If you use your VR headset primarily for gaming, you might be better off waiting for the Oculus Quest 3.
Speaking of the Quest 3, there were rumors of an updated Oculus Quest 2 Pro in early 2022, but they’ve been quieter ever since. It’s safe to say that Meta Quest Pro is all we see from the company through the end of 2022.

Meta Quest Pro Release Date
Meta Quest Pro (previously called Project Cambria) is available for pre-order now and will be released on October 25, 2022. It’s designed primarily for Metaverse and Mixed Reality, enabling collaboration, creativity, and multitasking, not just the games.
As for gaming, Meta has partnered with Microsoft to add Xbox Game Pass to the Quest lineup through XCloud, the brand’s cloud gaming platform.
Meta Quest Pro Price Speculation
Proving that it’s a business device first and a gaming device second, CEO Mark Zuckerberg wasn’t kidding when he said VR headsets were “in the higher price range.” Meta Quest Pro is priced at $1,499.
It’s more expensive than the HTC Vive Pro 2 and even the Valve Index, which was previously considered the more premium side of VR. If you’re unsure of the price, don’t worry, Quest Pro won’t replace Meta Quest 2. It’s work for Meta Quest 3, and Valve is also working on a successor to Index 2 that’s likely to suit the more affordable market.
Features of MetaQuest Pro
Like the Meta Quest 2, Project Cambria is a standalone wireless headset. It has a Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 1 processor under the hood, which Meta says will deliver 50% more power than the current Quest 2 with better heat dissipation.
The new pancake lenses are 40% thinner than the Quest 2, with a higher pixel density in the center for better text readability. LCD screens have 37% more pixels per inch than their predecessors and offer 75% more contrast, making colors more vibrant.
The HMD is equipped with inward-facing cameras to track his face by tracking his facial expressions, so his Metaverse avatar smiles when he smiles, frowns when he frowns, and speaks when he speaks. Meta believes that he gives you more authenticity through a non-verbal presence in the virtual space.
Meta Quest Pro also offers eye tracking, a feature that gives users another input method. This technology allows developers to implement foveal rendering, an adaptive scaling technique that reserves high resolution for the player’s line of sight while downscaling everything else. Not only does this make everything you see in the virtual world look sharp, but it also ensures that the device’s processing power isn’t wasted.
Because it is a mixed reality headset and not a strict virtual reality headset, it includes augmented reality support. This includes peripheral vision so you can see the physical room around you and magnetic light blockers when you want to make it more immersive.
Despite its standalone capabilities, you can likely plug it into your gaming PC for improved accuracy and performance, and you can still cut the cord with the Meta Air Link.
Meta Quest Pro Driver Leak
Pro controllers would be lighter, omit the ring, and mount better security cameras on the grips instead. This allows the pads to follow your hand movement independently of the earpiece, giving you more control over your body. In general, this should position the controllers more accurately in virtual 3D space.
You can see everything announced during Meta Connect 2022 below.

Many features of Meta Quest Pro are still in development and are planned for 2023, not release.
