A Roblox platformer called Interval demonstrates what’s possible in a sandbox gaming platform when developers invest in amazing graphics and creative mechanics. The Titanic in a Bottle game allows players to manipulate their environment using a time skip mechanic reminiscent of the iconic “Effect and Cause” scenario from Titanfall 2.
Interval stands out for its stunning visuals and time jump features that are uncommon in Roblox. By controlling the passage of time, players must stop objects in specific positions so that they can move around the area. While the game is essentially a complex version of obby that nods to the popular platform obstacle course game, its immersive environments and unusual take on traditional obby mechanics set it above other Roblox games.
The experience is reminiscent of “Effect and Cause”, in which players must switch between the past and the present to overcome obstacles and fight enemies throughout the mission. While Titanfall 2 failed to meet sales expectations when Electronic Arts released it in 2016, it is considered by many critics to be one of the best FPS games of all time.
Roblox noticed. At the Roblox Innovation Awards, Interval received an award for more exciting environment. The game surpassed the SCP 3008 based base building horror game of the same name and featuring parts of Springs Rock and Druid Sanctuary. Titanic in a Bottle also received the Excellence in Visual Arts award at the Roblox Developers Conference in 2020 and 2021.

The company continues to upgrade its infrastructure and introduce new technologies to attract a larger audience. According to Interval Roblox, the development team, which includes Elttob and Boatbomber this fall, Homemade_Meal, and AshCr4ft, created the game in less than 24 hours.
“We didn’t even know what to do for the first nine hours,” Elttob says of the experience. “We struggled to find compelling gameplay mechanics to build the game. However, once we finally worked out our time step mechanic, the rest of the project quickly fell into place thanks to the endless talent of everyone else on the team.
“I think we were as surprised as everyone else when we remembered what we had done. It is definitely some of our best game jam work and we are all immensely proud of it and have learned a lot from it,” he said.
Elttob says he wasn’t familiar with Titanfall 2’s time-jump mechanic, but heard players say that Interval “gives off a Portal 2 vibe.” It’s also an apt comparison, given that Portal 2’s puzzles use mechanics based on temporal and spatial reasoning.
