The first Wild Hearts trailer from EA and Koei Tecmo has been released, giving us a glimpse of the RPG and some of the beautiful, deadly, and incredible monsters called Kemono in Wild Hearts parlance that you can come face to face with. versus
Wild Hearts challenges you to tame these majestic, bloodthirsty creatures, though it remains to be seen whether the ultimate goal is to tame them Monster Hunter-style with traps and the like, or to tame them by killing their force life. The trailer’s narrator says that these monsters have reduced the world to rubble, and frankly, we’re not surprised. Some are the size of a small mountain, others look like rooted boars and roam the harmless flower fields of Azuma, they will surely ruin your nice picnic.
Wild Hearts certainly takes inspiration from Capcom’s Monster Hunter, right down to the weapons, including the katana or longsword and bow. However, the Koei Tecmo seems to double his combat power. Some of these weapons have interesting features, such as a katana with segmented blades or a bow that glows with mysterious power.
The narrator also says that you have an inventive mind and over time you create new combat devices, things like wooden bombs, electrical towers, and elaborate traps to corner your enemies. Will you learn this by fighting or collecting Kemono pieces to create? The trailer wasn’t interested in showing those specific details.
