Gary Ongko Putera, CEO of BOOM Esports, commented on the lack of partnership with Riot Games for the next VALORANT SEA Championship:

“I think the cat got out of the bag. Firstly, congratulations to everyone who participated in the first season and good luck to everyone, especially my friends from RRQ, Secret, Zeta, Talon and Paper Rex. Before I digress, I can understand why these commands were chosen. Going back a little, we were informed about our “failure” before the Champions League, would the Champions League change the situation? Probably no. The exact reasons, as always, were not named, but we always thought that especially this year we would be a strong candidate. We had the highest number of viewers of any Indonesian team, the number of viewers in the top four in the Asia-Pacific region, and I find it difficult to name another “big” PC organization outside of SEA. Financially, with the changes made to the streaming scene in SEA, I also know that we are faring much better than most of our peers. Although, to be fair, whoever ended up taking the seat at SEA was probably in the same boat. I tried to ask to reconsider our candidacy, but that’s the way it is.

Moving on to the big stuff, remember that this is a different league than the “franchise” that most of you are familiar with, AFAIK it’s not a permanent place and there is a direct path to promotion. With this in mind and after talking during the Champions League, I have come to the conclusion that this failure does not change our plans for next season, as my favorite saying goes: “We must focus on what is under our control.” My relatively short experience with Riot has shown me that they know what they are doing and our goal will be to be part of their ecosystem. As for the team, nothing has been decided yet, I’m sure our plans will change with the announcement and the availability of players. But if our records speak for themselves, we usually make the right changes to the roster. So I hope you continue to support us next season and if possible forever.”
