AMD Ryzen 9 7950X breaks performance world records

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X performance benchmarks have already surfaced online ahead of the processor’s launch date next week, and it promises to be the outright leader. Team Red’s flagship has broken not one, but four world records, which is all the more impressive considering all of those results were only achieved with standard liquid cooling.

Based on the test results posted on HWBot (via Hot Hardware), the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X is unmatched in 7-Zip and various Cinebench builds. In the latest version of the latter, the flagship Ryzen 7000 chip scored 40,498 points in multi-core tests at 5.40 GHz.

While that doesn’t give us any indication of how AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X will compete against other CPUs when running games, it will very likely take its place among the top-tier chips. That is, of course, unless it simply takes the crown for best gaming processor.

With the AMD Ryzen 7000 launching in less than a week, we won’t have to wait long to see how these processors perform. However, the promise of Intel’s Raptor Lake processors, also slated for release later this year, will probably tempt you to delay upgrading your gaming PC until we can compare the two processor lines.
