This Steam Deck gives us the feeling of a portable PS2

An enthusiastic Steam Deck fan has created a travel accessory for a portable gaming PC, and it gives us the feeling of driving a retro car. Dubbed “Cyberdeck,” the DIY accessory looks like a PS2 handheld LCD screen from the past, but it’s actually a nifty all-in-one solution that can add some versatility to Valve’s device.

Created by Steam Deck Master Lupus Voraks, Cyberdeck is a 3D printed case that houses a PDA, charger, and 12-inch 1080p IPS panel. The case also has an external USB-C and HDMI port, meaning you can charge and recharge everything without taking the bridge out of its comfortable place.

Basically, Cyberdeck takes all the bells and whistles that come with the best Steam Deck docking station and adds them to a ridiculously tough hard case. The 3D printed nature of the project may make you doubt the accessory’s durability, its creator dispelling all doubts by standing on it with his bridge inside (spoilers: the beloved PDA survives).

In a way, placing the laptop at the bottom of the case makes it look a bit like a big Nintendo DS, though using both screens probably isn’t a viable way to play.

However, you can use the Cyberdeck as a makeshift gaming laptop, as there’s enough space inside to store the foldable keyboard. Naturally, it’s best paired with a PC controller and used like an old-fashioned PS2 handheld, but experimentation is the name of the game with this makeshift accessory.

If you want to try building your own Cyberdeck, you can download the 3D Printables files for free. The Steam Deck enthusiast also helpfully lists all the extras you’ll need so you don’t have to worry about incompatible parts.
