Stunlock Studios has advised players to backup their V Rising server and character before the release of the next update. The AV Rising patch, coming out during the week of September 12-18, should improve the way saves are stored. As a precaution, the vampire game developer encourages players who host a server or play on a private server to back up their server “just in case.”
There are several ways to do this, depending on whether you are using a single server or multiple servers. For single server players, you will be able to find it in the local save list in the continue menu. There you can select it and click “Go to directory” to open the folder containing the relevant files. The ones you need are called “AutoSave_”.[number]’ (ie AutoSave_0, AutoSave_1, etc.). Copy them somewhere else (remember to leave the originals where they are) and you’re good to go.
If you want to save all your save data to multiple servers, you need to navigate to “%appdata% > LocalLow > Stunlock Studios > VRising > Saves” in your computer’s browser. There you will find all the files that need to be copied (again, don’t forget to leave the originals where they are, otherwise the game won’t be able to load them). If you have cloud saves, you can find them in a separate “CloudSaves” folder in the VRising directory.
Full details can be found on the official V Rising server manuals page.
