During a special episode of Night City Wire – a show about Cyberpunk 2077 – CD PROJEKT RED revealed the title and trailer for the game’s upcoming expansion, as well as more details on Cyberpunk: Expendables and the Expendables update for the game.
At the end of the Night City Wire special, the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion was officially unveiled for the first time. A trailer unveiled by game director Gabe Amatangelo showed a glimpse of the expansion before confirming its Phantom Liberty title. Amatangelo has confirmed that the expansion will feature a new cast of characters that V will make contact with in a new location in Night City. Phantom Liberty is scheduled to release in 2023 for PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X|S and Stadia. The trailer was followed by a Keanu Reeves video in which the Hollywood star revealed that he would reprise his role as rebellious rocker Johnny Silverhand in Phantom Liberty.

Ahead of Phantom Liberty news, a special edition of Night City Wire revealed a wealth of information about the game and Cyberpunk: Expendables, an anime set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 that debuts on Netflix on September 13th. During a segment on the show, Bartosz Stibor, one of its creators, was interviewed with details about the anime such as its history, topics covered, its characters, and more. He commented on the influence of the staff of Studio Trigger – the legendary Japanese studio that brings the world of anime to life – and the connection to Cyberpunk 2077.
In addition, the special edition revealed more details about Cyberpunk 2077’s latest update called Expendables or Patch 1.6, which brings anime items to the game. Players will have the option to put on the jacket worn by David Martinez, the show’s protagonist, and equip one of the weapons used by another character from the show. The update also brings a number of features to the game, including a system for changing the appearance of clothes, cross-platform progression, arcade machines with a Carpeda Race mini-game, and much more.
