It may be hard to believe, but the Windows 11 anniversary is fast approaching and the number of users using Microsoft’s latest operating system shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, the operating system has just reached a new milestone in gaming PC adoption.
According to the Steam Hardware and Software Survey – August 2022, a quarter of the gaming PC population running the Microsoft operating system is currently using Windows 11, or 24.71%. Its percentage of Windows users has increased by 2.94% this month and shows impressive results across the Valve platform.
However, it still has a long way to go before overtaking its predecessor, with Windows 10 holding a comfortable 71.76% market share, even after a 3.65% drop. However, time is certainly on Windows 11’s side, as the main operating system still has three years to go before Microsoft ends support for it.
The upcoming Windows 11 22H2 update could bring more users to the platform, but its features like Auto HDR and DirectStorage should bring more value to gamers. If you’re hoping to take full advantage of the latter, make sure you have the best gaming SSD you can find in your system, be it PCIe 5.0 or 4.0.
