There is a free Elden Ring comic manga and you can read the first two issues right now. Not the sentence I expected to print today, but here it is. After the incredible success of FromSoftware, with sales of Elden Ring reaching 16.6 million according to the latest official count from publisher Bandai Namco, it was inevitable that various related products and merchandise would follow. Now you can read a humorous look at one of the best RPGs of recent times, thanks to a partnership with Comic Hu and writer Nikiichi Tobita.

Elden Ring: Road to Airdtree is a humorous manga written by artist The Daily Life of a Cursed Sword. Kadokawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware, announces in a press release (via Famitsu) that the manga will be published through Comic Hu’s free web magazine starting on September 4, with the first two stories released on the web. same time, with additional ones published in the coming weeks and months. .

The series, which has been localized into 12 different languages including English, Traditional Chinese and Japanese, follows the story of the tarnished villain Aseo after he finds himself “thrown into the Limgrave naked, penniless, hopeless and deflowered”. The initial release is titled, appropriately enough, “Thought This Was Going To Be Serious, Didn’t You?” It begins much like the opening scenes of the game, only to abruptly land on an image of tour guide Melina standing on top of a nearly naked toilet, face down, with bold text announcing “This is a comic manga.” “.

It’s a rather strange occurrence, but from what we’ve read so far, it seems to be accomplishing what it sets out to do. It’s all pretty silly, as Aseo was immediately freaked out when facing the world’s first NPC, Varre, and a rather ridiculous digression that shows the game’s first big boss, Godric the Grafted, pondering how to choose the possible inoculations that will hit him. presented. The subordinates of him. There is even a violation of the fourth wall with a direct note somewhere that says “Are the FS devs okay with this?”

You can read the manga for yourself on the Comic Walker website; As mentioned, it’s free and available in English, but if you’re new to manga, keep in mind that the pages are read from right to left. The next issue will be out on September 19, with more to follow. It may not have been the Elden Ring content I expected to see when I woke up this morning, but I have to say, it definitely made me smile.

Recent events have seen additional shares of FromSoftware acquired by Sony and Chinese publishing giant Tencent. Meanwhile, the latest Elden Ring 1.06 update overhauls co-op, securing a place among the best multiplayer games on PC this year.
