New Stardew Valley mod makes it easy to win over pets

The new Stardew Valley mod has quickly become one of the most popular lifegames on NexusMods, and it may not be for the reasons you might think. Unlike other popular mods that expand gameplay, change NPC schedules, or customize what and how you can farm, this one does something relatively simple: automatically refill your pet’s water bowl every day.

Aptly named the Stardew Valley Autofill Pet Bowl mod, it pretty much does what it says on the tin: no fuss, no frills, no special effects. Just a happy, hydrated pet at the start of each day, and you don’t have to remember to do it by hand with all your other daily activities.

Technically, you don’t need to feed or drink your pet in Stardew Valley. Because Stardew is a video game, you don’t get the nasty side effects that usually happen in real life without food and water, since your hard-working furry friend probably goes out and finds something on his own. They still love you very much, but the important thing is that if you remember to give them water, they love you even more.

Increasing your pet’s affection is an easy way to get a shrine point for Grandpa’s shrine. At the beginning of your third year, or sometimes after that, your grandfather’s spirit returns to the shrine and assesses your efforts on the farm. Earning the most points requires serious effort, such as acquiring rare items or reaching a high level of friendship with neighbors.

You need 12 points for Grandpa to consider your farm “perfect” and this mod pretty much guarantees you’ll get one with minimal effort.
