According to leaked twitter account @FNLeaksAndInfo, which specializes in leaking information about Fortnite, Epic Games is preparing the participation of the singer Lady Gaga in Fortnite. The virtual show is expected to coincide with the second year of the LGBTQIA+ event, Pride Royale, which will give players exclusive items and other themed rewards.
The most recent (and conclusive) evidence pointing to Gaga’s online concert comes from her Twitter account, which recently leaked a “joint emotion” called “Jug Band” that sounds very similar to the singer’s mega-hit “Poker Face.” when four players participate in it, playing instruments such as pitcher, violin and banjo. Shortly after, fan site Lady Gaga Now posted a video of the emote in action:
Even those who are not a fan of the singer may notice that the similarities between the songs are quite large. If you don’t know, you can listen to the Poker Face hit here on the singer’s official channel. Beyond emotion, in July leak revealed stage it would be on Fortnite Island and would indicate that a mega concert was about to take place.
Lady Gaga in Fortnite Confirmed… via In-Game Radio
The next emote may not be related to Monster Mother’s virtual visit to the virtual concert, but it has been confirmed that music from her and other artists will be available to players during the event period. Epic Games today announced that Lady Gaga will be one of the artists, along with Janelle Monáe, Lil Nas X, Todrick Hall, King Princess, Kim Petras, and more, to be heard on the in-game radio during royal pride, a festival dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community starting September 8th. But the possibility of something more was hinted at over a year ago in court documents filed as part of Epic’s ongoing feud with Apple. One of the slides in these documents shows J Balvin, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga with months next to their names: Balvin and Grande both participated in virtual performances in Fortnite, and it seems clear that at the very beginning, at least, Epic is far enough advanced in negotiations for Gaga’s appearance at a time when she was ready to commit to the role.
And just in case Fortnite haters think this is bad for Lady Gaga, remember that Travis Scott won $20 million at his Fortnite concert and that was two years ago. This is a very good reason to appear on a unique online show.
