While the Secretlab Magnus is by far the best gaming table with all its gimmicks and magnetic devices, it lacks one key feature in 2022: the foot feature. Fear not, though, because the company has heard your cries and introduced height-adjustable versions of the Surface called the Secretlab Magnus Pro and Magnus Pro XL.
However, it is not a hacking job. Secretlab didn’t just put a pair of motorized legs and a collision detection sensor on his already impressive desk, no sir. Both versions come with new features that I personally have never seen before and also aim to claim the title of best desktop.
First off, you’ll notice that the control panel isn’t an awkwardly placed dangling appendage that you can kick against when you roll your gaming chair, rather it’s neatly integrated into the side of the table and includes all the usual suspects: backlit up and down buttons, three customizable presets, and a display that shows your current height, which ranges from 65cm to 125cm.
While the original Magnus helps you manage your cables with a desk-sized tray on the back, which returns here, Secretlab takes things a step further by helping you hide your cables. The left leg doubles as a power pole feeding a hidden socket in the tray, meaning you can plug in your own power strip and hide your spaghetti monster entirely. It gives you all the tools to make this the neatest table.
New magnetic accessories
The Magnus Pro and Pro XL share the same magnetic DNA as their static counterpart, meaning they support the same accessories. It will come with a newer and brighter Nanoleaf based MagRGB light bar by default and a Magpad table mat with the design of your choice (Batman, Assassin’s Creed, Team Liquid, etc.). You can also get your hands on cable anchors, cases, and a headphone stand, but there are a few more additions to the list.
Placing your gaming PC on the floor with a standing desk isn’t the best option, as your cables will be stretched or tangled depending on which mode you’re in. space, Secretlab now offers a premium PC mount so you can secure your system to the bottom of your desk without getting in the way. The case won’t work with anything other than the new Pro and Pro XL, so owners of the original Magnus are out of luck, but it should be compatible with most PC cases.
Secretlab is also launching new single and dual monitor arms that work well with the cable tray. I’m a big fan of strapping my gaming monitor to my arm, especially if it helps me avoid a flashy V-shaped bracket, but it’s a snug fit without scratching the metal. Magnus Monitor Arms solve this problem with ultra slim top mount base clamps. They’re also super stylish and match the Magnus aesthetic with magnetic guides to hide cables.
As you might guess, the difference between the Magnus Pro and the Magnus Pro XL is size and weight. Magnus Pro is 150cm long and can support loads up to 100kg, while Magnus Pro XL is 177cm long and can support loads up to 120kg. Given that the original weighed in at 42kg, you can expect one of these new ones to be a two-person job, but Secretlab says you can do it in 15 minutes with a little know-how, for what it’s worth. , the original is particularly easy to set up.
It’s clear that Secretlab is reinventing what it means to be a gaming table in an effort to topple the crown it’s held for four months.
