Destiny 2 Season 18’s promised Grenade Launcher buff turned out to be too powerful, so much so that Bungie temporarily disabled the entire weapon class in the FPS game’s new looting season. So if you try to use your grenade launcher and you can’t, it’s not a bug. Bungie has acknowledged the issue in official support of it. Twitter The account and the three mentioned grenade launchers are exempt from the ban.

The original plan was to give all Heavy Grenade Launchers a 10% damage boost in Season 18. This is a welcome increase, especially for a weapon type that deals with such low ammo. However, something clearly went wrong.
Shortly after the start of the season, fans began to notice that something was wrong with his grenade launchers. YouTuber Fallout Plays showed off the buff bug in action and posted a graphic created by one of his fans listing the damage numbers before and after the patch.
Post-patch, Heavy Grenade Launchers, with the apparent exception of those listed above, more than doubled, if not nearly tripled, the damage they dealt in Season 17. This naturally gave players an uneven advantage in modes. PvP, so Bungie’s decision to disable them is completely understandable, albeit quite drastic.
Bungie didn’t mention when Grenade Launchers would be activated again in the announcement tweet, though there may be more information in Bungie’s August 25 post this week.
