Roblox’s Doors, the recently released horror game from developer LSPLASH, quickly gained popularity among content creators and fans joined in on the fun. The survival horror game debuted on August 10 and has so far racked up over 86 million views and 237,000 likes.

Roblox YouTubers often make their audience watch the games they play. So it’s perhaps no surprise that The Doors have exploded in popularity in recent weeks.
Doors also looks unique because while the graphics aren’t exactly faithful, it looks so much like an indie horror game that it’s hard to believe it’s built on top of the sandbox game Roblox. Many Roblox developers generally prefer a cartoonish aesthetic that resonates with younger audiences, but Doors shows the full potential of the platform for creating games that require a special atmosphere. This highlights Roblox’s recent push for aesthetic updates, including layered clothing and repair materialsboth were designed, at least in part, to appeal to older users.
The game’s rapid rise in popularity is also an example of how older gamers are engaging with Roblox. The company recently shared information that many third-party developers designs the Roblox experience for players 13+. Perhaps the success of Doors will inspire more developers to create similarly toned horror games.
