Apparently, the Gotham Knights release date isn’t delayed, as WB Montreal has announced that the upcoming multiplayer game has officially gone gold. This means that the team has printed the master copy from which all other copies of Gotham Knights will be made, and in almost all cases, a game that has gone gold means it won’t be delayed. This in itself is quite an achievement in 2022, a year of delays. Hogwarts Legacy, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and the unannounced Assassin’s Creed Rift have all been pushed back a month or two apart as developers adjust to work-from-home issues and other pandemic-related disruptions.
However, the fact that we won’t see a Gotham Knights delay isn’t much of a surprise. In recent weeks, WB Montreal has been showcasing more and more gameplay, including previews of new characters and sharing details about the leveling system and how skills work.
Oh, and Batman is dead. And that too. Sorry, Pennyworth, that’s how this superhero thing works.
Gotham Knights is just ambitious. Not only is it enthusiastically ditching classic characters, but the development team is also looking for ways to give Gotham City a fresh feel while paying homage to its storied past.
“We made Gotham City a really big city,” level designer Christopher McMahon previously said. “But what makes Gotham Knights unique is the density. The families were there. They built towering structures in their neighborhoods. And then we build around that. There are a lot of areas that are a bit stuck in time.”

While you wait for the next chapter of Gotham to unfold this fall, you should also take a look at some of the best sandbox games and the best superhero games, which of course includes Arkham Knight.
