Fortnite not working after Dragon Ball event update

Battle royale fans are watching as Fortnite shuts down after scheduled maintenance time to add a Dragon Ball event update, though according to a Fortnite leaker, Epic Games is apparently working to resolve “the unresolved incident”.

The Dragon Ball update is set to add Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and Beerus to the multiplayer shooter, along with various backs and emotes. The scheduled downtime to add the update began around 3:30am EST, with the update expected to go live around 4:00am on the same day, August 16. However, as of this writing, roughly four hours later, Fortnite is still down and matchmaking is unavailable.

There are currently no updates on the Fortnite, Epic Games, or Fortnite Status social media channels, but Hypex, the perennial Fortnite leader who has previously shared details about upcoming events and new cosmetics, says ‘Epic is currently working on a fix.

“Downtime is taking too long due to an ‘unresolved incident,'” they write. “According to Epic, they are working on a fix!”

Other additions to the Dragon Ball event include a themed adventure island, Dragon Ball-related quests that players can follow in a new tab in the game, and various maps where players can watch select Dragon Ball episodes. It’s an ambitious homage to the beloved animated series, and may be the reason why Fortnite is currently crashing.

PCGamesN will continue to monitor the Fortnite servers and will update this story when they return. In the meantime, if you tried to log into Fortnite and it didn’t work, you can still enjoy one of the other best Battle Royale games. There’s also our guide to the best multiplayer games, which is hopefully enough to last until Fortnite comes back online. Alternatively, you can start preparing for the return of Fortnite with our Fortnite tips and tricks guide or our Fortnite crafting and building guide.
