If you’ve ever considered yourself an expert on Elder Scrolls lore, this Skyrim mod wants you to turn your RPG knowledge into the gaming history books. The Scholarship of Skyrim mod challenges players to become a true scientist in the world, letting you research various ancient cultures in a fantasy game before writing a dissertation on them, which will also award additional bonus stats upon completion.
Creator Zamio1’s Scholarship of Skyrim mod hopes to satisfy players’ desire to learn more about some of the mysterious ancient races and cultures found in the Elder Scrolls game world. Players can continue their research in a variety of ways: by reading pre-existing books, talking to other scientists who might specialize in a certain topic, and possibly going out into the field to gain hands-on experience.
There are currently three cultures to focus on, though Zamio says they’d like to add more over time. Players can explore subterranean Dwemer engineers with their robotic prowess and impressive subterranean architecture. They can delve into the Falmer, a once-thriving culture that would have sustained a great empire until its fall. Finally, they can learn about the ancient Norsemen who inhabited Skyrim long ago, before the advent of the modern age.
Suggested future themes include the Swordsinger, a group of legendary swordsmen from the land of Yokud in western Tamriel, as well as separate exploration of other lands beyond Tamriel and, of course, the opportunity to explore the history of the Dragons.
Your exploration of your chosen topic can take many forms. You can start with the Arcaneum at the College of Winterhold by reading books to build a knowledge base on the subject. He can then find various scientific colleagues located throughout Skyrim who will assign him tasks that will help deepen the general understanding of him. Finally, he can do valuable research by visiting suitable places like dungeons. What better way to truly understand the lore of the Dwemer, for example, than to explore their ruined cities yourself?
In the end, you will put everything you have learned into a thesis, write it as a book in the game. The quality of your final product will, of course, be heavily influenced by your research, but you will also improve as a science with each book you write, meaning you will be encouraged to continue your research after each completed project. Additionally, full books will delay the selection of additional bonuses, ranging from proper combat buffs to the ability to summon minions like Falmer-tamed Corus Hunters or even a Dwarven Centurion.
If you want to know a little more, how about turning Skyrim College of Winterhold into a real school? Or maybe you prefer to take a break and eat a delicious Skyrim hot dog? If you want to go one step further without using third party tools, we have all the Skyrim console commands and cheats that will allow you to manipulate the open world game to your liking.
