Nvidia RTX 4000 GPUs are about to enter the gaming PC scene, but the green team seems intent on evicting its RTX 3000 tenants early. To make room for the next-gen lineup, the company is reportedly looking to help AIB partners get rid of excess GeForce inventory, but it will focus on the more expensive SKUs first.

According to YouTuber, Moore’s Law is dead, insiders say “Nvidia stepped in directly” to make room for the stock RTX 4000 (via Wccftech). it can still take months. Board partners will also be given “solos” to work with GPUs like the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070, meaning current-gen stock could end alongside Lovelace.

So far, Nvidia’s efforts to shed its current lineup of top graphics cards appear to be working, as the stock RTX 3090 “starts to dry up.” The RTX 3090 Ti stock would also start to move, so there could be room for the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 in the AIB hotel if they show up in the coming months.

GeForce RTX and AMD Radeon GPUs are now available for less than the recommended retail price, which could encourage enthusiasts to jump on the current generation bandwagon. However, a report from Digitimes suggests that future GPU shipments will drop by 50%, attributed to the post-pandemic decline in sales and the demise of cryptocurrencies.

The RTX 3000’s low prices are tempting, but the RTX 4000’s purported specs will likely dissuade you from upgrading your gaming PC early. The RTX 4070 is rumored to have the power of the RTX 3090 Ti, so by the time the RTX 4090 hits the battlefield, its powerful GPU could be rated average.
