The Apex Legends Newcastle buff arrived in a recent patch that was as unexpected as it was (probably) unintended, and players are taking advantage of it while they can. Newcastle’s random perk drastically reduces the time it takes for a defender to revive their allies in a battle royale and gives them some really amazing new movement abilities.
One of Newcastle’s abilities is pulling allies when he revives them, which is great when under fire or in a vulnerable situation, but it’s also a bit slow. After a recent patch, Newcastle can practically run around, reviving allies under certain conditions. If you are next to a ledge and start the respawn process, then jump off the ledge right after, you can keep moving in the same direction at high speed and even jump in the way. His respawn time also seems much shorter.
Since the quirk is based on momentum, it doesn’t seem like you can get it to work by wall running, but players still take advantage of it while they can.
“The positive impact it deserves,” wrote a fan on Reddit. “Mf turned into an ambulance,” commented another.
However, there is no doubt that these fantastic new tricks are not intentional. In the same update, there was a new bug where the legend you picked seems to have abilities that aren’t theirs. While leaving it would be a fun mode or an April Fool’s joke, it indicates fixes that haven’t been made to the game yet, not what Respawn has in mind for the future of their Battle Royale team.
