Intel’s Meteor Lake Gaming CPU Lineup Might Not Arrive Until 2024

Intel Meteor Lake isn’t expected to arrive until next year, but reports indicate we’ll have to wait even longer to find a contender for the best 14th Gen gaming CPU. The news follows rumors of mass production issues that appear to have delayed the launch of the gaming PC chip, as well as rumors of product design and process validation issues.

Mass production of the Intel Meteor Lake processor was originally scheduled for the second half of 2022, but was delayed to early 2023 due to design and process validation issues, according to Trendforce. For unknown reasons, the 14th Gen chip is now subject to further delays and the blue team has apparently canceled its 2023 TSMC N3 orders.

The Intel Meteor Lake rumor has already caught the company’s attention, as AnandTech EIC Ryan Smith says PR sent note to insist chips arrive in 2023. Of course, the tech giant’s woes go beyond processors as we’re still waiting for more than one Intel Arc graphics card to come out, not to mention GPUs They haven’t left China yet.

If you’re a casual PC gamer, it might be too early to worry about Meteor Lake, as Intel’s Raptor Lake is high on the company’s processor schedule. However, if you’re an enthusiast trying to plan for future high-end releases, the uncertainty of CPU production can be frustrating.

Intel Raptor Lake will potentially be more expensive than Alder Lake, but the 13th Gen i9 processor could be the fastest single-core chip yet. Naturally, that means Meteor Lake is in serious trouble when it arrives and will have to quickly challenge AMD’s Zen 4, as the Ryzen 7000 roadmap already outlines Team Red’s future gaming PC efforts.
