FFXIV Island Sanctuary could arrive sooner than expected

The FFXIV Island Sanctuary update may give MMORPG players their own Animal Crossing vacation experience sooner than expected. If you ever thought Final Fantasy XIV wasn’t relaxing enough, a new mode reminiscent of games of life like Stardew Valley promises a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle to explore and develop your own personal island.

The dedicated FFXIV 6.2 site has been updated with additional details ahead of Live Letter 72 on August 12, which should fully break down the upcoming patch. Among the details is a brief section on the island shrine, which, more intriguingly, is listed as a “6.2 patch” feature, suggesting it could arrive with the late August update.

It was previously reported that Tropical Paradise will appear in Update 6.25. Compounding this release date speculation is the fact that the last paragraphs of the article do not list patch 6.25 along with Island Sanctuary, but list other features that we know are scheduled for release in later updates.

Also, the Final Fantasy XIV English Twitter account is active on Isle Sanctuary. say it “The time is near” and that “Island Hideout Coming Soon!” However, perhaps the most obvious of all is tweeter which reads: “Looks like there are a lot of new features in the FFXIV 6.2 patch for Island Shrine!”

So it seems that at the end of August we will be able to explore the long-awaited seaside resort and get a solution for our farming game. Of course, we won’t know until an official announcement is made. In the meantime, we’ve reached out to Square Enix for clarification and will let you know when we have confirmation of the status of the feature.

Island Sanctuary may be the closest thing to Animal Crossing on PC, but here’s a selection of our other favorite games in the genre. The FFXIV Astrologian and Dragoon redesigns aren’t coming anytime soon after it’s been delayed until a major expansion is released. Meanwhile, the current FFXIV Moogle Treasure Trove rewards offer hard-to-find mounts.
