The popular new Stardew Valley mod lets you make big changes for your comfort, but at the expense of some key NPCs. It’s also one of those box-within-a-box situations that illustrates just how vast and complex the Stardew Valley modding network has become less than a decade after Life was released on PC. The atravita creator’s mod is called Holiday Sales and it keeps shops open in Pelican City while festivals are held in other cities, although it is of little use in the game without mods.
– Other cities? you say surprised Some mods, including the Ridgeside and Durin’s Rest mods, include other towns adjacent to the valley or further away, and some of these settlements have their own festivals. The problem is that Stardew Valley’s own stores tend to close when these non-Stardew festivals occur.
Christmas sales fix this and keep stores open on non-holiday days. Or every festival, if you’re like me and don’t mind destroying your valley neighbors’ privacy just to buy a few extra trinkets. I’m also one for keeping shops open as late as possible in Animal Crossing and raiding villagers’ places to get stuff from them at inopportune times, so this mod is definitely for me.
And that’s just smart. Planning your schedule around the usual local store hours can often be tricky, but when you have to adjust multiple times, it’s easy to accidentally mess up your planting schedule and fall behind on production.
It won’t change Robin or Clint’s work schedule. They’re not open or closed for work yet, respectively, though atravita is working on a mod to have Clint at least open geodes for you on holidays, which would be very helpful.
You can get Christmas sales for yourself at NexusMods. If you’re looking for some more cool Stardew mods, check out some of Solid Foundations’ creations, including one that lets you mass-produce goods.
