At the beginning of the Elden Ring game, it is important to have an excellent starting weapon. Luckily, there are plenty of options in Limgrave that you’ll encounter early on that can be expanded as you hunt monsters.
Whether you’re looking to get something big and powerful or an ever-faster weapon to maintain mobility, there are plenty of options to choose from. Here’s our pick of the five best Elden Ring pistols you can get at the start of the game.

twin blade
The Twinblade is a deadly weapon with blades attached to both sides of its crown and requires 10 powers and 18 skills to wield. It can be implemented as a one-way or two-way weapon and provides fast, consistent attacks with plenty of twisted animations for unparalleled visual beauty. It’s great for Dex crafting as it only needs 10 abilities, but can also use a balanced “quality” build.
The Twinblade’s default weapon ability is Spinning Slash, a fast attack that uses a fair amount of FP but deals high damage to enemies caught together.
You can find these weapons in the ruins of Dragon Burnt at the start of the game without any additional difficulties. While carrying the stream, head to the ruins and jump to the southernmost building and jump twice. Enter the basement to find the Twinblade waiting for you.
reduvia
For those who prefer a one-sided dagger, the reduva is a very good tool in the early period. It’s an aesthetically intriguing weapon that will ensure you look cool while destroying enemies.
Reduvia needs 5 strengths and 13 skills. The Blood Blade weapon ability is a ranged attack that uses small amounts of FP to fire bloody bullets, causing enemies to bleed. This ability is exclusive to Reduvia and cannot be removed, modified, moved or found elsewhere.
You can get this weapon by defeating Blood Finger Nerijus near Murkwater Cave. It’s not that hard to beat Nerius’ bloody finger. Just dodge or block his clamor attacks, then counter him with a few of your own shots. Finally, you will be joined by an NPC ally named Jura who will be incredibly helpful to you in finishing Blood Finger Nerijus once and for all. Finishing Phantom will give you a Bloodstained Reduvia Dagger.
long sword
This standard straight sword requires 10 strength and 10 skill and has an excellent moveset that is useful in almost any scenario.
Longsword’s weapon ability is Square Off, which can be used to fire a steep upslope with R1 or a shot with R2. Simple but effective in close meetings.
The castle sells the longsword for a reasonable price and also has plenty of essentials, including a crafting kit for the first part of your journey and a torch for exploring dark places.
Flail’s chain has a pointed ball that looks very painful, so it’s a good option for inflicting pain on enemies. It is also a new weapon type in the From Software game.
Flail needs 12 powers and 12 skills. The weapon’s ability is Spinning Chain, which spins the striking part of the bottle at high speed, then combines normal and heavy attacks for high damage.
You can get Sail right after leaving the Limgrave training area, like in the chest, at a large nearby camp called Gateside Ruins.
Grid
Greataxe does slow hits for very high damage. He needs 30 great powers, but only needs 8 skills.
Barbaric Roar is a weapon skill that Greataxe possesses. Using it gives you power to attack, while heavy attacks give you powerful combos, making it a very useful tool if you can use it before colliding with an enemy.
The great ax is located in a traveling wagon that continues along the main road east of Lake Agel; this is where you first reach Limgrave, itself to the east. It may take a while to get the cart rolling, but it’s hard to miss the two giant trolls slowly pulling it. If you never see them again, walk back and forth until you see them.
