Update 1.2 for Battlefield 2042 will be released this week and will be another major patch for FPS multiplayer. Update 1.2 includes the first of EA’s planned launch map revisions, a visual update for players, a new player stats page, and more. The patch will be released on August 2 on all platforms.
Arguably the biggest single change in Battlefield 2042 update 1.2 is the revamp of the Kaleidoscope map. According to DICE, the updated version includes additional cover, new flag positions, and improved map movement.
Some of the new hideouts come in the form of new assets, like sandbag and container fortifications. However, in many areas, DICE has adjusted elevation, creating channels and ledges that break up long lines of sight and “allow infantry to move more deliberately around the map.”
The park houses a new forward operating base and an additional command post located next to the tower. DICE says it added more cover points to the data center and made the area a bit more battle-damaged.
The update will be the next map to be reworked, and DICE says that you will be able to play the new version of this map in Season 2.
Update 1.2 also includes a “style and tone” update for Battlefield 2042 Specialists. According to the studio, their models and appearance have undergone another phase of development “to better reflect the tense situations they’ve faced.”
This update also adds a new player profile page to the menu that will reflect “your game progress and performance since launch,” says DICE. On the profile page, you will be able to see your rank, experience required to level up, your best skills, upcoming unlocks, and more.
It also includes a detailed stats breakdown showing information on kill rate per kill, accuracy, shots taken, and a host of other performance data.
The full changelog for update 1.2 includes a breakdown of all weapon and operator balance changes introduced in this patch. In particular, the 30mm cannons on the RAH-68 Huron and YG-99 Hannibal stealth helicopters have significantly increased their overheat rate to give infantry more opportunities to retaliate against them.
