Zuckerberg wants Meta Quest 2 to launch a $100 billion VR business

The Meta Quest 2 (formerly the Oculus Quest 2) is already one of the most popular VR headsets ever made, but CEO Mark Zuckerberg seems to see its success as a stepping stone to higher goals. In fact, he expects the company’s efforts to tap into the virtual and augmented reality markets to generate significant revenue over the next decade.

In a recent corporate meeting leaked to The Verge, Zuckerberg outlines what he hopes Meta can accomplish with devices like the Meta Quest 2 and Project Cambria, among other AR/VR additions.

“Our guiding star is, by the end of the decade, can we get a billion people into the metaverse and making hundreds of dollars each in digital commerce? If we do that, then in this decade we will build a business that will be as big as our current advertising business. »

If Meta could do that, it would mean its AR/VR exploits would be worth around $100 billion a year, according to UploadVR. No one can say for sure if this is feasible, but the Meta Quest 2’s recent price hike could result in fewer people buying the company’s best VR headsets and choosing a competitor instead.
