A popular new Stardew Valley mod aims to correct a small but widespread absence in both the base version and modified expansions of the game: reflections in water. If you’re like me, you may not have noticed the lack of reflections in a pond, lake, or ocean when you carelessly passed or cast line. After all, there’s a lot to be done: take down Jeff Bezos and win marriage partners with a constant barrage of trinkets. However, after seeing PeacefulEnd’s Dynamic Reflections mod in action, it’s hard to imagine returning to the valley without reflections.
Many people also seem to agree. Since the mod’s release on July 8, more than 11,000 people have downloaded it.
PeacefulEnd’s latest Stardew Valley mod adds reflections to almost any body of water and even adds puddles that form during heavy rain. And yes, they also reflect your personality (and have a fun splatter effect).
Reflection and puddle effects work in the base game and all mods, including Stardew Valley Expanded, and even come with a set of customizable reflection options. Would you rather see a tall, wavy version of yourself looking out over the ocean? Good news.
Perhaps my new favorite effect in fashion is shooting stars. On clear nights, you might be lucky enough to see kites buzzing by, or if not a kite or two, at least the bright palette of the night sky reflected in the gentle ripples of the lake. It’s a sweet little touch that makes nights out even more enticing than usual, but with a slightly higher risk of forgetting to get home on time.
