The new trailer officially reveals several characters from Genshin Impact Sumeru joining the anime game with version 3.0. While some of these characters have already been rumored or seen in some recent Genshin Impact 3.0 leaks, we now have official confirmation of their existence and appearance.
The “Prelude to Wisdom” teaser released by Hoyoverse follows the format of previous developer-led Sumeru trailers. While this sneak peek provides a more general look at the culture and civilization of Sumeru’s new location, probably the most interesting part for most players will be the quick reveal towards the end, which gives us a proper look at various characters. Genshin Impact newcomers likely to join the playlist.
The host is Tignari, a Dendro user and Amurta investigator, as well as a 3.0 character we’ve heard of before. We then see white-haired Alhaitam, who is from Sumeru Academy and meets the Traveler in Port Ormos. Then a mercenary from the Dehya desert appears, clad in black and red cloaks, gold-tipped hair, and wolf ears.
The dancer Neelow is shown on a large circular stage practicing her moves in a flowing white, blue and gold outfit with an ornate horned headdress over her long red hair. The young Nahida sits atop a tall tree trunk and wears a white outfit with bright tree patterns that match the patterns of Sumeru’s nature. Finally, Cino, described in the trailer as General Mahamtra, sits atop a rocky cliff overlooking the settlement, dressed in a black and gold suit with a dog helmet that resembles the Egyptian god Anubis.
Elsewhere in the trailer, Genshin Impact writer Yogurt talks more about the importance of knowledge as a resource in the Sumeru region and talks about the legacy left behind by the ancient Archon Dendro, High Lord Rukhadevata. Also, monster designer Baiheng talks about the fungus and mushrooms that thrive in Sumeru’s humid climate.
Baiheng also refers to a new Sumeru faction: hermits who act as mercenaries unaffiliated with any particular power who live in the deserts. This makes it likely that Dehya is associated with a group that also claims some of the heritage of Sumeru’s ancient civilizations.
