A gaming PC modder has found a creative way to remove heat and dust from a PC case, and it involves the use of a special exhaust pipe. The maker in question says the piece helps circulate air around the graphics cards and PCIe slots, but its angled design also means you can lean the tower against a wall.
Created by Reddit user Charlie, the gaming PC mod features a 3D printed exhaust shaft that screws into the back of the case grille. A simple but seemingly effective vent helps draw heat away from your angled deck, which is useful if you don’t have a lot of space on your gaming table. The design also keeps dust out of your system, while internal vanes help direct air to graphics cards.
The vent is available as a free download on Thingiverse, so you can add it to your gaming PC if you have a 3D printer at home. The part screws into a regular ATX tower like a case, so you don’t need any fancy skills to improve your cooling situation.
Creative cooldown methods may not sound as cool as projects like this custom Doom BFG gear, but they can definitely help keep things cool. A modder recently managed to reduce the temperature of a Corsair gaming PC case by 10 degrees by cutting hexagonal holes, and you can apparently lower the temperature of a gaming CPU by mixing diamonds with thermal paste.
Naturally, we do not recommend trying this last project on your own, as it is risky and expensive. However, PC modders are coming up with more creative cooling methods by the second, and we’re fully prepared for that.
