Gather your team and get ready for another long journey among the stars: the Polestar No Man’s Sky expedition has already begun. This is the eighth official community expedition in the space game, and unique rewards can be earned by being the captain of one of the largest transport frigates in No Man’s Sky.

Expedition comes on the heels of the No Man’s Sky Endurance update, which adds all sorts of cool customization options for capital ships. Now you can add portholes and bay windows to your larger ships, perfect for turning an old houseboat into a luxury cruise ship.

During the Polar Star Expedition, you will need to repair the unique technology found on your transport freighter, which will reveal more about its current state and how it came under your command.

The Polestar Expedition will last until September 21, but once you’ve cleared all the stages, you can finish the expedition early and convert your Polestar progress to a normal save file. This will happen automatically at the end of the expedition, but now you have the option to take care of it once you’re done.

As you complete the Expedition stages, you’ll earn exciting new rewards: cute posters to hang in your ship’s mess or base, the spinning tail of a high-gravity freighter, and a very cool fleet commander’s cape with a large golden compass rose. You can also unlock the companion Child of Helios, who resembles the ghost of a wise space jellyfish.

The Steam update has all the Polestar Expedition details. The journey has begun, but you have six weeks to complete it.
