Dark Souls 3 multiplayer server update hints at the return of Steam

With From Software fans happily distracted by Elden Ring multiplayer for the past few months, it’s easy to forget that the Dark Souls 3 PC multiplayer servers are still offline. Supposedly, Bandai Namco is working on a PvP solution, but now a new Dark Souls 3 update on Steam could give fans hope.

In January 2022, Bandai Namco shut down the Dark Souls servers on PC to address a potential security vulnerability affecting the PvP RPG where hackers could take control of a player’s computer. Six months have passed and the online servers of the Dark Souls series for PC have not returned.

However, according to the Dark Souls 3 SteamDB page (as reported by lance macdonald on twitter), Bandai Namco has released a new debug update on Steam for the first time in years.

While this isn’t solid proof of anything, it does suggest that Bandai Namco is preparing a new patch for Dark Souls 3 on PC that will be released soon. Since the biggest fix the game currently needs is the return of multiplayer servers and an exploit fix, we hope this update will do exactly that.

As for the release date of the Dark Souls multiplayer update, it’s still up in the air. While you wait, Elden Ring’s transparent co-op mode is now available, and enemy random mode should work to make things a bit more unpredictable.
