World of Warcraft’s latest expansion, Dragonflight, is currently in alpha testing. As with most MMORPG trial stages, it behaves like a house of cards. You set up a skill and suddenly the whole class breaks.
While hunters aren’t in broken territory yet, a lot of changes have been announced recently, but it looks like they’re ready for even more. Blizzard game designer Nimox has announced the full list, which you can find here on the Blizzard Forums. But for those less inclined to skim through snippets of text, we’ve rounded up some of the more interesting developments below.
For base class skills and talents, we have a pet repair buff, from 35% to 50% healing. Also, the Enhanced Excite skill was merged with the Inspiration skill and replaced with the Rejuvenating Winds talent. Viper Venom, a single target proc, has also been replaced by Hydra Sting, a multi-target proc.
In Beast Mastery, the Dire Pack design has been revamped. Instead of summoning Dire Beasts to increase the damage of Steady Shot and Multi-Shot, they reset the cooldown of Kill! and temporarily reduce its cooldown and cost. They also add a new talent that improves Dire Beast’s summoning overall.
The aim went through many name changes and redesigns. Volley has been renamed to Bombardment and Arcane Shots now improve your next Volley. Explosive Ricochet is now called Multi-Shot and makes your Multishot fire explosive shots every 45 seconds. Finally, Killer Ricochet is now called Razor Fragments, previously a Shadowlands covenant ability, and causes your Kill Shots to bleed on nearby targets after Trick Shots wear off. In addition to these revamps, Steady Focus values have been halved, and Bursting Shot and Quick Load are no longer dependencies.
Survival has a lot of new talents and the skill set has been reduced from 2/3 to 1/2. New Talents: “Ranger”, which improves several different basic skills; Intense focus that enhances the “Get!” ; and Merciless Marauder, which increases the fury of the eagle. Participation requirements and upgraded harpoon are merged into one talent. Frenzy Strikes now apply to Flanking Strike and Viper’s Venom is now in the revamped Survival tree – Raptor Strike and Mongoose Bite can apply Serpent Sting to their target.
