With GeForce RTX 3090 Ti prices now well below manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) following the recent cryptocurrency price crash, it’s understandable that many are rushing to get the best graphics card from Team Green. . However, one unlucky person seems to have run into trouble with a recent Nvidia GPU purchase.

Brazilian gamer Mauricio Takeda claims he bought what he thought was a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti from Amazon, only to find a plastic container and two cans of sand in the box upon arrival (via Videocardz).

Apparently, Takeda was scammed out of BRL 14,500 (approximately $2,637 / £2,189) and had a hard time getting a refund because a customer service agent allegedly sent him a link to delete his account. They have since filed a lawsuit that appears to have finally prompted Amazon to take action to resolve the issue.

Fortunately, Takeda’s case is exceptional, so for now, we don’t discourage you from buying any of the company-made Amazon video cards. That said, it might be worth waiting to buy GPUs until the RDNA 3 and RTX 4000 release date, which is expected to drop later this year.
