Project Zomboid Gets a “Realistic Bleach Drink”

0

“We’re going to have the most realistic Bleach we’ve ever seen in a game,” the developers of Project Zomboid brashly declare in their latest update. The tricky lo-fi zombie survival game is gearing up for its next big patch, patch 42, which includes a complete overhaul of how fluids work.

The reworked fluid system is part of a larger effort to support Project Zomboid’s crafting system. The Indie Stone reports that Build 42 aims to make long-term survival a more robust experience and make handcrafted items more interesting to use and interact with.

Fluids are a key part of this survival ecosystem. Of course, your characters need to drink water, but they also need to carry fuel for the vehicles. Liquids can be flammable or toxic, and these effects must have different intensities depending on the type of liquid it is.

Indie Stone says you’ll be able to precisely mix liquids using the new system by pouring liquid from one container to another, and the new liquids system will be able to accommodate that. An extremely poisonous liquid can be diluted with water to reduce the effect of the poison.

The developers say they are considering what restrictions to put on this system: for example, it may not be practical to allow players to dilute gasoline, as that would require determining how much it would damage the engines that use it. However, they do have some good ideas: Characters with special abilities, like mechanics and cooks, will be able to recognize a problem with liquids, like poisonous juice or diluted fuel.

There’s a lot more to the last post – it shows an unfinished menu for a working chicken coop that allows you to extract both chickens and eggs. Indie Stone says the idea was to lock the hens in the coop at night to protect them from predators, but just like in real life, remember to let them out in the morning if you don’t feel like cleaning. the horrible mess. You must also diligently collect the eggs from each nest box, otherwise the hens will end up looking for new places to lay their eggs.

The studio says that Build 42 will also include numerous improvements to the game engine, multiplayer systems, and the initial Project Zomboid game. However, the wait is still long, until build 42 “still a long way to go”.
