Arma Reforger crossplay between PC and Xbox is coming ‘soon’

Arma Reforger, Bohemia Interactive’s Early Access multiplayer and test bed for Arma 4, will soon support cross-platform play between PC and Xbox. The studio says the feature is currently in its final stages of testing, and while a specific release date has yet to be set, cross-play will be enabled “in the near future.”

“PC and Xbox gamers will be able to fight together in the near future,” the developers of Arma Reforger said in the latest report. “We are currently in the final phase of internal testing and plan to activate it on official and community servers. This should allow Xbox gamers to finally enjoy modded multiplayer matches.”

This means that the pool of players will be larger to fill the servers, which will make for a livelier Conflict game (or whatever modified game mode you prefer).

“We also expect the PC scene to welcome Xbox gamers and an influx of gamers into the same gaming space,” the developers say, noting that mouse and keyboard support for the Xbox version of the game Xbox still requires additional development time.

Dev Report #8 also addresses current Arma Reforger crash issues and multiplayer stability issues. The developers say they have worked hard to analyze and resolve various issues that cause disconnections, general connectivity issues, and crashes on both the client and server sides.

According to Bohemia, the main source of client-side crashes was conflicts between Arma Reforger mods. This makes replication of locks difficult, as there are so many mods available and countless possible combinations. No studio can test every one of them, so Bohemia says it relies heavily on player feedback to track down and isolate issues.

In the meantime, the studio says it’s working to make the game a bit more forgiving when mod conflicts arise, such as disabling individual mods or mod features that are causing problems.
