Another limited-time event is on its way to survival game Weird West Bayou Hunt: Showdown. Serpent Moon is “coming soon” to Hunt, and a short teaser posted by Crytek hints at what’s to come, but there are far more questions than answers.
Serpent Moon is the sequel to this year’s first event, Traitor’s Moon. During this event, players earned event points by destroying “Orwellian effigies” scattered across the maps and performing normal Hunt: Showdown activities such as examining clues, looting hunter corpses, and looting for bounties.
Crytek has yet to reveal what Serpent Moon will entail, but the trailer hints at some new gear you can take with you to the ghostly death camps of Louisiana when it kicks off. In the first image, you can see what appears to be the light of a flashlight falling on the book shelves, and there are some quick shots that show a strange weapon on a table.
It appears to be a stripped down pistol version of the Sparks LRR, generally a high caliber single shot rifle using long cartridges. In the version shown in the trailer, the stock and barrel have been sawn off so it can be held and fired one-handed, though you can expect it to make a lot of noise and go berserk if it does.
The book’s teaser artwork features a creepy serpentine skeleton coiling around the moon, no doubt suggesting a new type of enemy…or boss.
Crytek says the event is coming “soon,” so rest assured.
