BGS: figures and outstanding facts of a successful event 13 years ago
In 2009, the Brasil Game Show started its first edition, still in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, with far more dreams than realities. Thirteen years later, BGS has already established itself as one of the top three industry events in the world, marking a great trajectory of achievement and impressive results, with over 2 million attendees and 20,000 press professionals over 12 editions. In terms of floor space, the fair has already covered a total of 450,000 m², equivalent to 54 football fields, and its booths and attractions have had the honor of hosting dozens of foreign guests, including legends such as Hideo Kojima, Nolan Bushnell, David Crane, Ed Boone, Phil Spencer, Yoshinori Ono, Corey Barlog and others like Ralph Baer, the video game inventor who actually participated in the event in 2010.
“BGS is a childhood dream and I believe not only in myself, but also in the thousands of players who saw international events in magazines and wanted to experience them close to home, in their own language. It’s nice to look back and see how the fair has contributed to the maturation of the market in the country, changing the perception of large companies in the segment of the region and, above all, gamers,” concludes Marcelo.
